Netgear Orbi wifi system is designed to cover your entire place with high-speed internet connection. You can connect orbi to your existing modem or router in order to increase its wireless coverage and remove those rigid dead spots from your home entirely.
You can perform the orbi setup with existing router by disabling the Wi-Fi on that device. You can connect orbi to your existing router through Ethernet cable and then setting up orbi in “AP” mode.
However, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. There are series of complicated steps that a user needs to follow to do the orbi setup with existing router. To make it easier for the users, we’ve created this step-by-step guide.
Steps to do orbi setup with existing router
Step 1- Connecting the devices physically
1. Place orbi device and your wifi router in the same room and connect them to the power source.
2. Take an Ethernet cable and connect its one end into the LAN port of the wifi router.
3. The second end of the cable needs to be plugged into the Ethernet port of the orbi device.
Make sure that the Ethernet cable is properly plugged into both the devices.
Step 2- launch the Orbi Login page
1. Open the web browser and go to www.orbilogin.com.
2. Orbi login page will come up on the screen.
3. Enter the username and password in the required fields.
4. Click on ‘Login’ and wait for a few seconds.
5. You will be sent to the orbi setup page.
Step 3- Set Up orbi in AP mode-
Now you have successfully logged into orbi router and now you can easily set up orbi in Access Point mode. Follow the below given steps carefully.
1. On the orbi home page, click on the ‘Advanced’ tab.
2. Head to the Advanced Setup’ and click on the ‘Router’ option.
3. Locate the ‘AP mode’ option.
4. Select the ‘AP’ mode and adjust the frequency of your orbi device.
5. Once done, save and apply the new settings.
